Michael Trevino
My name is Michael Ray Trevino. I am currently incarcerated at the Robertson unit in Abilene, Texas. I have been incarcerated since May 20, 2012. I am going on thirteen years. I am serving a fifty five year aggravated sentence. I have made some bad choices in life, I will be eligible for parole in fourteen more years, my incarceration was what helped me want to better myself. I began drawing almost instantly, I began by drawing greeting cards, and birthday cards. That was my prison "hustle" I did that for about eleven years art has helped me pass my time. In April of 20041 was finally placed in the crafts shop after nearly a six year wait. Once in the craft shop I began to want to learn how to do something different. I purchased some pastel pencils, some graphite pencils, and some colored pencils. I also got an airbrush which is something else I want to learn. A friend of mine named James Ross told Me l seemed like the type of person who would enjoy woodburning, or pyrogryphy. Well he was right, I finally found something I liked doing. Wood burning really calms me, it relaxes me. I can sit hours just sitting here working on a burn. I want to find my own style I really like doing country scenes. I also want to learn how to do portraits on wood. As of right now wood burning is all I want to do. Later on I want to learn how to airbrush. Artworks is limitless. I want to be a great artist, Art is my life. I saw the show (unknown). Having a large sentence can be depressing, but through my artwork I have learn to keep my mind busy. Now I just put my headphone on and work on my artwork. I am no longer depressed. I enjoy woodturning so much, I have read books on Sue Walters and Joe Schwartz. I enjoy the work from these two artists, my time flies past really fast when Im wood burning. Thank You,
